DAY 1: 19^th Sept 2019 EGYPT /CAIRO
Depart Nairobi JKIA for Cairo aboard flight MS 850 at 04:20hrs and expected to land at Cairo international airport at 0810hrs.
You will be met at Cairo International airport and assisted through immigration and customs by our representative after which, you will proceed with visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the Old / Coptic / Christian Cairo & the Pharaonic Village and the hanging church (AL MUALLAQA) –“ built in the 4^th century over southern gate of the fortress of Babylon. Dedicated to Virgin Mary, it’s treasures include a 14th-century wall painting of the Nativity”.
We will also visit The Church of St. Sergius (ABU SERGA) – A 5th century basilica built over crypt where the Holy Family is believed to have stayed during their flight into Egypt; Church of St. Mercurius (ABU SEFEIN) – boasts a unique collection of Coptic art including 175 icons that depict scenes from the old and new testaments, wall paintings, etching and stained glass, and Ben Ezra Synagogue. At the close of the day, you will retire to the Barcelo Hotel for dinner and Overnight: Cairo
DAY 2: 20^th Sept 2019 EGYPT
Breakfast will be served at the hotel after which you will check out of the hotel and depart for St. Catherine – Mt. Sinai. Drive across the Suez Canal (via an underwater tunnel), and enjoy a scenic drive through the Sinai desert. Our next stop is Moses’s springs where there are remnants of the springs and a group of Bedouins still live there.
We will then drive via Rephidim where the Israelites fought the Amalekites. During this battle, whenever Moses put his arms down, the Israelites lost and whenever he put his arms up, the Israelites were won. (Aaron and Hur held Moses’ arms up whenever he started getting tired.).Check in to St. Catherine’s Hotel and after dinner; retire early to be ready for the early morning Mt. Sinai climb. DAY 3: 21^st Sept 2019 EGYPT
Leave your Hotel at 0100hrs for the Mountain climb base. At 0200 hrs start the climb of the Mountain of St. Catherine (also known as The Mount of Moses) –This is believed to be the Mountain Moses climbed to receive the Ten Commandments. The climb takes approx. 3 hrs one-way, and climbers are treated to a spectacular view of the Sunrise atop the mountains! On this day, after the climb, we will visit sites in St. Catherine. In the same area, there is the famous Greek Orthodox Monastery which is built around the Burning Bush and the well where Moses met his wife Zebura (daughter of Jethro, the priest of Median). We will also visit the place where the Israelites camped when Moses went to receive the Ten Commandments. Return to hotel for breakfast and then Check out and proceed to Taba – the Egypt / Israel border town. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for the pilgrims to get some much-deserved rest after the climb ahead of the Israel program. Overnight: Taba Hotel
DAY 4: 22^nd Sept 2019 ISRAEL
After breakfast, transfer to the border post of Taba and cross over to Eilat to enter Israel. Here, you will be met and assisted/ushered into Israel by our representative. Proceed to Kibbutz Yotvata, one of the largest Kibbutz in Israel. Take a guided tour to the dairy farm to learn about Dairy farming in the desert
The ecological vegetables/fruits are grown under the desert heat organically. Visit the superstore run by the Kibbutz, where you can sample the milk and cheese products from cows & goats from the farm. We will then drive down to the Dead Sea, the deepest / lowest place on earth. We will have a stopover to give you an opportunity to float (not to swim!) on the sea; an experience like no other. Thereafter, leave for Jericho – the Oldest & lowest city on Earth! Visit the place of the Sycamore Tree – “Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through it. Now a man named Zacchaeus was there; he was a chief tax collector and was rich. He was trying to get a look at Jesus, but being a short man, he could not see over the crowd. DAY 5: 23rd Sept 2019 ISRAEL
Breakfast will be served at your Hotel before a visit to Mt. Olives to view Jerusalem, The Chapel of Ascension, Pater Noster (Our Lord’s Prayer) church, Dominus Flevit (the church of the tear – Jesus Wept), the Garden of Gethsemane, across the Kidron Valley to Mt. Zion; Visit the Room of the Last Supper / upper room and the tomb of King David. Walk down to St. Peter in Gallicantu and visit Caiaphas House. Visit St. Anne (the pool of Bethesda), continue in the footsteps of Jesus along the Stations of the Cross / Via Dolorosa, Jesus’ “Way of Suffering”, and unto the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Jesus was crucified and buried. The Via Dolorosa passes through the Old City’s oriental “Souk”.Overnight Bethlehem Shepherd Hotel
DAY 6:24^th Sept 2019 ISRAEL
After breakfast, start the day with a visit to the “Wailing Wall” – the last remnants of the Temple in Jerusalem before. We will visit Shepherd’s fields in Bet Sahour and thereafter drive to the ancient Church of the Nativity, where we can really touch the very place where Jesus was born. We shall also visit the “Milk Grotto”.We will drive to Ein Karem, the place where John the Baptist was born. We will visit the “St. John in the Mountains” church, built on the place where the house of St. John was standing. We will also visit the Church of Visitation, where St. Mary visited Elizabeth. Overnight at Bethlehem Shepherd hotel.
DAY 7: 25^th Sept 2019 ISRAEL
After Breakfast, we drive past Tel Aviv, continue to Caesarea Marittima, the magnificent port-city built by King Herod the Great. In Caesarea, a well-preserved theatre, an inscription of the procurator Pontius Pilate was found. Continue to Haifa to Mt. Carmel – Elijah’s cave, and stop to experience the breath-taking view of the city at the Bahai Gardens. It is in Mt. Carmel where Elijah had the contest with the Prophets of Baal and to-date, stands the statue at the Carmelite monastery, which reflects the Lord’s victory over the prophets of Baal. We then move to Nazareth and, visit there the Basilica and the church of the Annunciation, and the chapel of St. Joseph the Worker / Carpenter. Overnight at Rimonim Nazareth Hotel
DAY 8: 26^th Sept 2019 ISRAEL
We drive to visit the places where Jesus acted/ministered around the Sea of Galilee – these include: Capernaum, with Peter’s House and the famous Synagogue, the Mt. of the Beatitudes, where the “Sermon on the Mount” was given, and the reconstructed church in Tabgha, where tradition puts the miracle of the Bread and The Fish. We will then sail on the Sea of Galilee in a boat like the boat used by Jesus and his disciples. Thereafter, visit the Baptismal Site on the River Jordan. DAY 9: 27^th Sept 2019 ISRAEL / EGYPT
Early breakfast will be served at the hotel and drive to the Mountain of Temptation viewpoint. The summit of Mount of Temptation, rising to a height of 350 meters above sea level and commanding a magnificent and panoramic view of the Jordan Valley, this is the site where Jesus spent forty days and forty nights fasting and meditating during the temptation by Satan. We will then head out to Eilat/Taba border post, and cross over to Egypt and continue to Sharm el-Sheikh for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Sharm el Sheikh
DAY 10: 28^th Sept 2019 EGYPT
Leave after breakfast and drive to Cairo through the Wilderness of Sin where the miracle of Manna and Quails took place, and where traces of the Seventy-two palm trees can be found (Elim). Driving past Mara, cross the Suez Canal and continue to Cairo. Transfer thereafter to the airport for your flight MS 841 back to Nairobi. Departing at 2140hrs and expected to arrive JKIA at 06: 45hrs on 29^th Sept 2019
